Andy Samberg will join Craig Robinson and Common to develop a new superhero comedy entitled Super High.
According to Deadline, Samberg, Robinson and Common are planning to produce and perform in a superhero comedy in which “smoking special grass gives them superpowers”. Adam Mansbach signed a contract to write the script based on a story he created with Shamier Anderson, who will also participate in the executive production of the film.
Sources say the film was in the middle of a bidding war based on its premise, however, New Line Cinema eventually won the rights to the project. Super High is still in a very embryonic stage of development, not yet having a concrete release date.
Samberg’s most recent projects include Hulu’s Palm Springs and Netflix’s The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance. In recent years, he has also brought Jake Peralta to life in Brooklyn Nine-Nine, alongside Robinson, who plays Doug Judy.
