Demon Slayer film sets records in Japan

Kimetsu no Yaiba: Mugen Ressha-Hen, the film based on the anime Demon Slayer, debuted this weekend in Japan and grossed $ 44 million in just three days, breaking records in Japan.

As Deadline tells us, the film grossed $ 12 million on its opening Friday in the 403 theaters available across the country. At the end of three days, that amount reached $ 44 million with 3.42 million viewers.

Compared to other successful films in Japan, during the same period, Frozen 2 won $ 30 million in 2019, while Weathering with You totaled $ 15.6 million.

In three days, the Demon Slayer film has already surpassed the third highest-grossing feature in 2020, Confidence Man JP: Princess, which in the entire screening period grossed $ 36 million.

Regarding his debut in the West, Kimetsu no Yaiba: Mugen Ressha-Hen is scheduled to premiere in the USA in early 2021, and there is no prediction that the film will reach Portuguese cinemas.
