Legendary will be developing a new Buck Rogers film, which could serve as the launching pad for a multiplatform sci-fi franchise.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Legendary is planning a new project centered on Buck Rogers, along with Transformers producer Don Murphy and his wife Susan Montford, who produced Shoot ‘Em Up and Real Steel. The studio will be finalizing preparations to guarantee the rights of the character.
After several years of negotiations, sources say the team behind the Buck Rogers project wants to take the property across multiple platforms, with the film “paving the way for a television series, as well as an anime series.”
Buck Rogers is a character that emerged as a comic, created by Philip Francis Nowlan, protagonist of Armageddon 2419 AD, which was published in 1928.
