The movie The Haunted House will be in development at Disney by one of the writers of the remake of The Ghostbusters.

As The Hollywood Reporter advances, Katie Dippold is currently working on a new live-action version of the movie The Haunted House. The same midfielder says that the production studio Rideback, which recently worked on the remake of Aladdin, is also involved in this adaptation.

Guillermo del Toro has been trying to develop this film with Disney in recent years. The filmmaker even came by surprise at the 2010 San Diego Comic-Con to reveal his intention to work on the project. However, in 2019, he revealed that his interest had cooled.

Disney already developed a movie The Haunted House in 2003, starring Eddie Murphy, a film that ended up raising about $ 150 million worldwide. This is not the only attraction of its developing theme parks, as Jungle Cruise will hit theaters in July 2021.
