TSR Updatez: Another one bites the mud, y’all. It is now being reported that US Capitol Police Chief Steve Sund has submitted his letter of resignation following the disturbing riots that occurred on the capitol on Wednesday.
According to CNN, Sund’s resignation is efficient January 16. He opted to resign after backlash relating to the shortage of preparedness the Capitol Police confirmed when coping with rioters. As y’all noticed in. many photographs and movies, officers weren’t solely ill-prepared, however some had been even participating with rioters and posing for selfies.
In an announcement launched Thursday morning, Chief Sund said that many law enforcement officials had been “actively attacked” with steel pipes and different weapons, and stated rioters had been “determined to enter into the Capitol building by causing great damage.”
“The violent attack on the U.S. Capitol was unlike any I have ever experienced in my 30 years in law enforcement here in Washington, D.C.,” Sund stated. “Maintaining public safety in an open environment–specifically for First Amendment activities–has long been a challenge.”
Five fatalities have been reported because the riots started on Wednesday afternoon, together with one Capitol Police Officer who was on the scene.
